Representatives from the National Police Healthcare Scheme (NPHS) had the honour of being invited on stage to present at this year’s Association of Police Communicators (APComm) Academy.
The annual event, which was attended by more than 300 people, is one of the largest in-person professional development events for police communications staff, providing the perfect platform to highlight the full range of benefits available through the scheme.
As a sponsor of the event, NPHS also had a stand where we engaged directly with colleagues, answered questions, and shared how the Scheme supports everyone within the police family – serving and retired officers, police staff, staff of police organisations and charities, and their spouses, partners, and dependent children.
Reflecting on the event, NPHS CEO Jim Gray said: “As a Scheme, it was our pleasure to support the Association of Police Communicators Academy 2025 event and awards dinner.
“Being able to present on stage was a fantastic opportunity to remind police staff colleagues from across the UK that they have access to the full range of benefits offered by the NPHS.

NPHS’s sponsorship also extended to the Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented during the Awards Dinner.
This year, the award went to Donna Dawber MBE from Merseyside Police. Donna, Merseyside Police’s News and Campaigns Manager, has served the Force for almost 25 years, handling communications during some of the area’s most tragic and high-profile incidents, including the Southport attacks in 2024 and five fatal shootings in 2022. The award was presented to her by DCC Sam de Raya of Hampshire Police.
