The competition secretary of the PSUK Women’s Hockey has thanked sponsors National Police Healthcare Scheme (NPHS) for helping make this year’s competition a resounding success.
The competition involved teams of police officers and staff from 10 forces – Cheshire, Devon and Cornwall, Essex, Kent, Merseyside, Metropolitan, Northumbria, PSNI, Scotland and West Midlands Police.
They gathered in Chelmsford, Essex, for a two-day tournament.
The cup competition was won by West Midlands Police, who beat the Metropolitan Police in the final.

PSNI won the plate competition, beating Police Scotland in the final.
Awards were presented by the women’s hockey lead, Temporary Assistant Commissioner Rachel Williams, of the Metropolitan Police, and ACC Lucy Morris, of Essex Police.
Competition secretary Janice Hutton said it was a fantastic event.
“It’s always a great occasion,” she said. “And this year’s was no exception.
“It’s very competitive with a high standard of hockey played throughout.

“It’s a great opportunity for police officers and staff to gather together in a different environment to the workplace.
“The big thing is the camaraderie.
“The competition brings huge physical and mental health benefits.
“You make friends and contacts in other forces, and you never know when you might need them.
“You might need a contact with someone in a particular force or a particular specialism, or some advice. It’s great for that.”
Janice is a retired Chief Superintendent with Northumbria Police and has been playing hockey since she was 11.
“I love the camaraderie of it,” she said. “I love being part of a team.
Teamwork
“Policing is all about teamwork, and this is another aspect of being in a team.
“And you have great memories of things that went well and things that didn’t go so well on the pitch.”
She added: “I’d encourage any officers and staff thinking of taking it up to give it a go. Hockey really brings people together.”
And she thanked the National Police Healthcare Scheme for its support for the competition.
“They have sponsored the medals and the awards this year, which is great,” she said.
“It’s nice to get a medal and we managed to get a small memento for the winning teams to keep.”
